TOFT Summer Open Day ... Fun for all on a Perfick day!

We kicked off August with the TOFT Summer Open day... Weather was perfect not overly hot but dry with plenty of sunshine interspersing the rapidly moving clouds. Congratulations to Kerry and her team of Tofties in the shop who worked tirelessly to entertain the crafty crowds. A massive thanks to Uncle Keith, Ollie and Rob for their work in the car park. A massive thanks to Auntie Lorna for her priceless meet and greet work. Not forgetting Jules and Tom supervising the catering from  the TOFT Coffee Shop aided and abetted by Scott and Doug. A big thanks from me for my team of a Linda, Olivia and Lizzie working with the alpaca walks and of course to 'Whoopy Daisy' and Caroline who walked and talked themselves to a standstill around the farm and back again. And let's not forget Auntie Sandra who had the two young uns to entertain throughout. Thanks you one and all for creating a truly unforgettable experience for all our guests both young and old. And a special thanks to the 84 year old alpaquero for letting me take her photo. A Perfick family affair on a Perfick TOFT day! God bless you all! 

Bit windy then....?

Just when you think you'll have a couple of quiet days to recharge and take our foot off the accelerator the Gods provide another challenge to field and fence... 'Twas ever thus. I reckon those boys selling all those wood burners go round knocking them down on purpose... hey ho! 

Luckily no alpacas were near this breach in our defences and  it was not near of the fields needed for the TOFT Alpaca Open day on Monday. So it can wait until after Easter to be logged and have the fence repaired. The munchkins are coming up to Toft for the weekend and they won't appreciate the old fella getting them logging this lot not when we have already roped them into helping on the TOFT Alpacas Easter Open day.

The Wid is getting the garden ready for Easter Monday TOFT Alpaca Open Day...

Young Lordy was out on the farm yesterday rescuing wind fallen daffodils with his Gran and making an Easter bouquet for Mummy...numbers collected were his priority not condition of bloom...he's his fathers son and all of 2 1/2 !!!!

We need all the help we can get to get ready for the TOFT Alpaca Open Day on Easter Monday. One likes to look ones best!

Toft Alpacas Open Day kicked off early...

It all kicked off early on the  Manor yesterday with visitors knocking  on the doors as we were setting up. 

A massive Toft effort all round with Scott standing in for Uncle Keith on the car park duty with Auntie Lorna and Paul Beswick of Du Prem Alpacas. Doug took over Eddie watch from Auntie Sandra. Freya, Millie, Linda and myself were on the alpaca halter walking. 

Shirley and the studio staff on the walks and talks as well as all the other craft activities. Harriet, Kerry and the interns were all buzzing around like bees on honey. The Cornflower cafe was booming with all the cakes and Sarnies gone by last knockings. Despite the rain a great Toft Alpaca Experience was delivered in spades !

This was our first Open Day where we have  dodged the weather but it didn't stop the visitors coming and a fantastic British Day out at Toft Alpacas was had by all. Well done family, well done Team Toft and may we all conitnue giving the joy and providing this very special Alpaca experience for a long long time to come. Our visitors loved it and I think  we might have changed a few lives along the way! xxx

Toft Alpaca Walker & Talker

Here she is with the job she was born for. Shirley walked and talked from 10am-4pm without a break throughout the Toft Alpaca open day and she still looks as fresh as a daisy. Well done big girl they might have forgotten to bring you  lunch but you did a fantastic solo job out there today. Sleep well tonight. Xxx

Big family = big help on the Toft Alpaca Open Day

What can I say, my brother in Law Keith has turned car parking at Toft into an art form, my sister in law Lorna has developed into he best 'meet & greet' lady you ever saw work an entrance, my sister in law Sandra, Keith's wife mucked in here there and everywhere and as usual my wonderful Mother in law Myra was supporting one and all. And they were all volunteers, they work like Trojans on a couple of cakes and a bacon sarnie and they seem to love it. The multitude of visitors who came through the farm today went home singing the praises of the ' staff' and credit to the family I don't think they just mean the employees. Thank you one and all for your unselfish commitment to making our Toft Alpaca Open Day a day to remember.

Glamour girls...indispensable

I caught these three 'glamour girls' in a rare moment of relaxation at the Toft Alpaca Open Day. They did a magnificent job on the alpaca walks today. 

These three young volunteers have all done work experience at Toft Alpacas this year and I have to say their alpaca experience really paid dividends. 

A big Toft Alpaca thanks to Millie, Georgina and Paula and also to Lauren who was the other glamour girl working the alpacas with myself and Linda our herds woman today. Thanks for the glamour girls!

Loving the dry

Any rain that falls is quickly evaporating in our neck of he woods and we are getting very dry again. The amazing thing is the alpacas are loving it. All growing well and putting on weight and loving the long days of sunshine.

Hopefully we will get more of the same tomorrow for the Toft Alpaca Open day.

Never mind the weather... we are Open all day

Toft Alpacas is buzzing today with preparations for tomorrow's alpaca open day. The forecast said we might get a shower so the ladies spent an hour whizzing up a couple of party tents to make sure all the attendees will stay dry. 

We often miss out on showers here because of our proximity to the reservoir. But better to be safe than sorry.  You can soon tell who was in the Scouts or guides when it comes to the 'tent challenge'.
